API Aquarium Salt provides the essential electrolytes that improves gill function, reduces stress, facilitates osmoregulation (regulates pressure of body fluids) and promotes disease recovery. Aquarium Salt allows optimal oxygen intake and release of carbon dioxide through the gills. Note that the salt does not evaporate or filter so it should be added with every water change. Some plants may be sensitive to salt.
