Quick Overview

The optimum diet for our pets is their evolutionary diet and that is why we recommend the Big Dog BARF diet.  "Wellbeing" offers a slightly different RAW diet and will greatly benefit dogs with the following conditions:

  • Obesity or weight issues

  • Arthritis and inflammation (weight issues can also contribute to this condition)

  • Pancreatitis

  • Liver issues

  • Allergies

  • Autoimmune diseases

  • Inflammatory bowel disease

  • Cancer

  • Renal failure

Each pack contains 12 frozen patties.

So what is the difference between Wellbeing BARF and BARF from the standard range? When would it be the right choice for my dog?

The immediate advantages that “Wellbeing” diet offers over Big Dog BARF Diets from the standard range are the reduced fat levels.

Dogs that are overweight can immediately start to eat this diet as it still maintains its palatability and health promoting nutrients but with less kilojoules. This assists in losing weight or is perfect for dogs that have been identified as requiring “low fat” diets for injury/disease management.

“Wellbeing” diet is also an excellent choice for the ageing dog.

This diet offers less protein and more fibre but a very good range of essential vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids (omega 3’s) and enzymes, all carefully formulated to ensure and compliment the requirements of the ageing companion.

A much higher level of fish is included in this formulation which ensures that excellent levels of Omega 3’s are available. The anti-inflammatory properties of the Omega 3’s found in fish ensures joints, tendons and ligaments are being nourished whilst also helping with a healthy skin and coat.

Why RAW?
Dogs are carnivores as classified by the Smithsonian Institute. This is based on their dentition, digestive tract and their natural instinct to eat a prey-model diet. When dogs are referred to as omnivores it is usually by those who are marketing commercial grain-based foods, or business owners and vets who are benefitting financially from the sale of commercial grain-based foods.

A dog's food should never be cooked. It should be fed in a natural raw state. Cooking a dog's food ruins most of its nutritional value.

The main ingredient of commercial dog food is grain by-product, despite the fact dogs are designed to eat a raw diet from a range of prey species. Grains are highly toxic to dogs (along with yeast, salt, onions, avocados, chocolate, soy) and cause a range of inflammatory and allergic conditions.

Commercial dog foods are often laden with preservatives, colours, salt and phosphorous. The vast majority of commercial dog foods contain too many carbohydrates. This is linked to overweight, diabetes, renal problems, heart problems and many more complaints.

There is no substitute for a raw, natural diet for which the dog through evolution has chosen for itself. Only human influence has removed choice for the dog and isolated the species from its evolutionary diets. The domestic dog's anatomy has not evolved to differ from that of the wolf...only it's habitat has changed.

You can take the dog out of the wild, but you cannot take the wild out of the dog!
